This is the smoothie recipe that started my love for having a healthy and delicious green smoothie for breakfast everyday. It not only energizes you all day, it helps you maintain a healthy weight, is packed full of vitamins, gives you glowing skin, and makes your hair strong and shiny. The recipe is by Kimberly Snyder and she has a great book called The Beauty Detox Solution with vegetarian recipes that help keep a body healthy and beautiful. Even if you are not a vegetarian (I am not), the book has very helpful information about how your body reacts to food and the benefits that it can get from certain foods. Try the recipe and take a look at the book, I guarantee that you will feel and look better with a green smoothie per day and a few changes to your diet.
- 1½ c. Water
- 1 Romaine Lettuce Heart
- 2 c. Baby Spinach
- 2 Organic Celery Stalks, halved
- 1 Organic Red Delicious Apple, cored, seeded, quartered
- 1 Organic Pear, cored, seeded, quartered
- 1 Organic Banana, Medium, peeled
- Fresh Lemon Juice Yield from ½ an Organic Lemon
- 2-3 Ice cubes
- In a blender, blend water, romaine, spinach and celery until smooth.
- Add the apple and pear, blend until smooth.
- Add the Banana, lemon juice, and ice cubes
- Blend until completely smooth or desired consistency has been reached.
- Place any left over smoothie in the fridge and drink again the next day.
